Dirk Balthaus - Piano

Dirk gives piano lessons at Music For Life. He is an experienced teacher with lots of love for music. He discovered jazz around the age of 16 and started to play in bands. In 1991 he graduated at the Hilversum’s Conservatory for jazz piano. In 1995 he released with the Balthaus/Lochs 4-tet his debut album “Tales Of The Frog”. Since than he has played on ca. 40 albums, some as a leader, some as a sideman. He is a permanent member of Joan Reinders’ Millennium Jazz Orchestra, one of the leading Big Bands in the Netherlands. Current projects are Braskiri, Sietske & Band, Simone Honijk Quartet and Eduardo Blanco International Quartet among others.
