Guillaume Ortet double bass teacher

Guillaume gives double bass lessons at Music For Life. He started studying jazz at the Conservatorium in Nice. He finished his studies and graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatorium in 2011, where he had the chance to learn with great teachers such as Franz van der Hoeven, Ernst Glerum, Clemens Kem amongst others, and to have masterclasses with: Kurt Rozenwinkel, Larry Grenadier, Brad Meldhau, John Patitucci, Brandford Marsalis, Brian Blade, John Clayton, Peter Erskine, and more .

In 2008 his compositions were selected to the semi-final of the Keep an Eye competition. With his band, he played his compositions at the Meer jazz festival and the Uitmarkt in 2008. He has also played in festivals such as the Meerjazz Festival 2016, Bevrijdings festival Zwolle 2011 and on a few occasions at the Red Light Jazz festival in A’dam.

During his time in Nice he played on a weekly bases in cafes and open podiums with some of the best local musicians, Sebastien Chaumont, amongst others. In Amsterdam he had the opportunity to get to know and play with inspiring musicians like Maarten Hogenhuis, Jerome Hol, Benjamin Herman, Tineke Postma, Tim Welvaars, Erik Kooger, Daniel de Moraes and more.

Currently Guillaume is a band member of The Medine Bouma Trio, The Wet Dogs Trio and GoleGole Trio.  Besides performing he also produces music, and is currently teaching double bass in classical orchestra for children at LeerOrkest.
