Mateusz Pulawski - Guitar

Mateusz teaches guitar at Music For Life. As a music teacher Mateusz has worked in Amsterdam and the surrounding area for years, he also gives workshops, sometimes abroad. His knowledge and skills are supported by more than 14 years of experience in the field and diplomas from two conservatories: Conservatorium van Amsterdam and WSJiMR in Poland. A couple of his students were accepted to the higher music education programs. His motto is: "The essential thing in learning to play the instrument is to love music, which makes the process more enjoyable. My greatest goal is to pass on my love for music to others. My approach towards students is always creative, positive and focused on their individual development." says Pulawski.

"My guitar lessons are not only focused on practicing the necessary techniques and the repertoire on the instrument. Of course I do all that with my students, but in a broader context. A couple of complementary activities include listening to music carefully, analyzing our feelings about a particular piece / artist / performance, recording the guitar playing and evaluating it."

His affinity with music genres / styles such as: jazz, improvisation, blues, pop, rock, folk, soul (and more) gives him the freedom to build, together with every student, their individual musical path from scratch, which influences the proper selection of techniques, exercises and repertoire used in the lessons. Ultimately you’re learning what you’re really into. The teaching material gets supplemented by the necessary bits of music theory. Furthermore Mateusz is always open to the student’s suggestions and ideas.

As a musician and composer Pulawski leads a number of projects and released 8 CDs (as ‘Mateusz Pulawski Lunar Quartet’, ‘Mateusz Pulawski’ and ‘Esther en Mateusz’) which can be found on Spotify or Bandcamp. He works as a session musician as well and you can hear his playing on the records of Deborah J. Carter, Leah Kline, Karsu or Frank Paavo, among others. Mateusz toured a couple of times in the Netherlands (having played a.o. at the Bimhuis and ‘t Concergebouw in Amsterdam), in Germany, Belgium, Poland and France. Mateusz is known for being able to accompany on a very high level therfore he gets asked by a lot of singers to work together. Mateusz Pulawski is also a driven and active producer, studio engineer and multi instrumentalist.
