Thijs van den Geest - Trumpet

Thijs gives trumpet lessons at Music For Life. He is a talented young jazz trumpet player living in Amsterdam. He regularly performs with a wide variety of formations, among which the bands ‘Little Olifant’ and the ‘Red Light Jazz Society’ and played in venues such as the Bimhuis, Lantarenvenster and the Concertgebouw. In 2016 he wrote a music performance entitled ‘Dan Maak Je Maar Zin’, in collaboration with his sister. In 2017 he graduated at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he had attended lessons with Ruud Breuls, Jan Wessels and Jan Oosthof. Furthermore he has visited masterclasses and workshops by, among others, Ambrose Akinmusire, Ack van Rooyen, Bert Joris and the Metropole Orkest.
